During this festive shopping period, Google is committed to enhancing your gift-finding experience with innovative AI-driven tools.
Today, Google introduced three fresh methods that use its advanced AI technology to assist shoppers in finding and buying presents.
These new features utilize Google’s Search Generative Experience (SGE), integrating generative AI within its search engine to make gift hunting easier and more enjoyable.
AI-Powered Gifting Ideas
Experience a new SGE feature unveiled today that crafts personalized gift ideas when you search for terms such as “perfect gifts for cooking enthusiasts.”
According to Google’s announcement, this AI feature generates tailored categories like unique tools, specialty ingredients, gourmet subscriptions, and culinary classes for browsing.
Within these categories, users can explore a variety of gift options from both well-known brands and small businesses.
Julie Black, Google’s Director of Shopping Products, highlighted that this tool helps shoppers “narrow down unique preferences of your gift recipient.”
For instance, if you seek gifts for pasta-loving home cooks, the AI suggests pasta-making kits and recipe books.
For kids with specific interests like science or coding, the AI recommends personalized gifts like chemistry sets or coding kits.
Google emphasizes that SGE aims to encourage exploration, integrating links to content creators and shopping ads directly into the experience.
AI-Generated Visual Shopping Experience
Another new feature on mobile uses image generation to help users visualize and discover clothing items they’re searching for. With SGE, when users look for clothing, they can create realistic images based on the words they type.
For example, typing “colorful, patterned puffer jacket” will generate AI-made images that match that description.
Shoppers can tweak the text to refine the images until they find the one they like. Then, they’ll see similar actual products available for purchase.
This feature will start becoming available in the U.S. in December for those already using SGE. Others can enable it through Google’s Search Labs.
Enhanced AI-Powered Clothing Try-On
Lastly, Google is broadening its use of AI-driven virtual try-on tech to include men’s tops. Since introducing this feature for women’s tops earlier this year, Google noticed it increased shopping interaction.
Now, when users search for men’s tops, they’ll notice a “try-on” icon for certain brands. Clicking it displays the item on various models, adjusted by skin tone, body shape, and more.
With convenient gift suggestions, visualized searches, and virtual modeling, Google aims to make gift hunting “smarter and more confident” this season, thanks to its continually advancing AI technology.
