It’s no mystery that Google is putting a lot of effort into Bard, a potential substitute for ChatGPT, this year. The organization is enlisting the aid of its virtual assistant unit to aid Bard’s growth even more.
Sissie Hsiao, vice president and head of the business section for Google Assistant, reportedly disclosed in a memo that the virtual assistant team would undergo some restructuring. The reorganization is an effort to give the team top priority when developing the business’ AI assistant.
Jianchang Mao, Google Assistant’s vice president of engineering, who directly reported to Hsiao, announced in the memo that she is leaving the company for personal reasons. Peeyush Ranjan, a former vice president of Google’s commerce division, will reportedly take his position.
In addition to this restructuring, Amar Subramanya, vice president of engineering for Google Assistant, is now in charge of the engineering initiatives for the Bard team. The memo also noted that Trevor Strohman, who was previously overseeing those engineering efforts, will continue to work for Bard as an “Area Tech Lead.”
Comparing Google Assistant To Bard
Similar to Apple’s Siri or Amazon’s Alexa, Google Assistant is an AI-powered virtual assistant software tool and language processing program.
Assistant, which is frequently used for voice recognition, is present in a variety of gadgets, including mobile phones, home appliances (such as the Pixel smartphone and Nest smart speakers), smartwatches, TVs, smart displays, and even cars thanks to the Android Auto platform.
The most recent leadership changes suggest that the Assistant section might think about incorporating Bard technology into comparable products.
However, it is still unclear how this Bard can be made money.
Although executives have hinted that Bard might be used as a search product, recent talks within Bard’s leadership have minimized that use case.
