Nest Aware subscribers will soon be required to allocate more funds as Google raises the cost of its Nest Aware subscription service.
On the Google Store page, you’ll notice that the pricing for Nest Aware has surged, shifting from its previous rates of $6 per month or $60 annually to $8 per month or $80 per year. Likewise, Nest Aware Plus has seen an increase, climbing from $12 per month or $120 per year to $15 per month or $150 per year.
For those not acquainted with Nest Aware, it’s a paid service that offers enhanced features when used with Google Nest devices. By default, Nest cameras retain approximately three hours of event history. The standard plan extends this history to 30 days, while the Plus plan extends it to 60 days and includes 10 days of continuous video history.
Additionally, it offers features like face detection, sound detection for smoke and carbon monoxide alarms, the ability for the Nest Hub Max to function as a camera, and streamlined access to the nearest 911 call center based on your location.
If you’re a new customer, you should already notice the updated pricing. Existing subscribers in the US, UK, and Australia, on the other hand, will experience these changes in the autumn of 2023. For other countries, Google plans to provide a 30-day advance notification before implementing the price adjustments.
Notably, not everyone will be impacted by these price modifications. Google says, “Price changes are not applicable to you if you have canceled your Nest Aware subscription, or if you receive it through one of our partners, like ADT.” If you’re unsure whether you’re subscribed through one of Google’s partners, the company offers guidance on how to verify this on its support page.
