Google now allows businesses to easily include links to their social media profiles directly within their Google Business Profile. This feature empowers companies to display their active presence on various social media platforms right alongside other essential details in Google Search and Maps.
By incorporating these social media links into their Google Business Profile, businesses enhance their customer engagement and support capabilities. This means customers have additional avenues to connect, gather information, and find solutions to any inquiries they might have.
New Feature Rollout
With this new feature, now businesses have the power to choose which social media links appear on their profile, putting them in control. A new Google support page explains this.
You can easily add a link for each major social media platform right to your Business Profile. Supported platforms are Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Pinterest, TikTok, X (formerly known as Twitter), and YouTube.
How To Use the New Feature
To effortlessly connect a social media link to your Google Business Profile, just follow these simple steps:
- Access your profile and click on ‘Edit profile’.
- Navigate to ‘Business information’ and then select ‘Contact’.
- Locate the ‘Social profiles’ section.
- Choose the social media platform you want to link and input the web address.
Adjusting or removing the link is just as easy:
- To edit a link, simply update the web address for the specific social media link.
- To remove a link, click the ‘Trash’ icon next to the social media profile you wish to delete.
In some cases, Google may automatically add social media links to eligible Business Profiles. To modify these auto-added links, follow these steps:
- Add a new link for the same social media platform.
- Complete the process using the same steps as before.
What This Means for Businesses
Enabling the inclusion of social media links offers local business owners an additional method to enhance their visibility within Google’s network.
Modern consumers anticipate discovering not only websites but also social media links when they search for local information. This capability empowers small and medium-sized businesses to rival larger chains in delivering a seamless online experience.
Although businesses have the option to attach identical social media links to multiple Business Profiles, they are restricted from attaching different links from the same social media platform to a single profile.
You can control this feature individually for each business either through Search or Maps or you can utilize the API to efficiently manage multiple locations all at once.
It’s important to note that Google does not furnish performance metrics, such as click-through rates, for these integrated social media links.
