In February 2023, Google unveiled its timetable for Android 14, along with the simultaneous release of the initial developer preview. The schedule outlined by the company closely resembles the one previously employed by the tech giant for Android 13.
Google has recently launched the most up-to-date version of their operating system, Android 14 beta 4, on July 11. This release is intended for public testing and is now available for installation on compatible Pixel phones and tablets. Based on the release date graphic provided by Google, the next update is expected to be the stable launch. The system achieved Platform Stability in June, indicating that the focus now is on resolving any remaining bugs and preparing for the final release.
Android 14 Timeline
Considering the striking resemblance in release schedules between Android 14 and Android 13, it is reasonable to assume that Google will adopt a similar approach. In the previous year, Google followed a pattern of two developer previews and eight beta releases for Android 13 before officially launching the update. If Google maintains a comparable strategy this year, it is highly likely that Android 14 will make its debut around August. However, it is important to note that there is no absolute guarantee that there won’t be any delays.
Regarding the devices eligible for the new operating system, all versions of the Pixel series that have not yet reached their maximum limit for major OS updates can be expected to receive it. This includes every Pixel device from the Pixel 4a 5G onwards. Notably, the Pixel Fold and Pixel Tablet are also part of this group.
The Pixel is expected to receive the Android 14 update before other devices, as has been the trend in the past. However, determining the exact android 14 release date for Samsung, OnePlus, and other brands is a bit more challenging. Additional information regarding these releases will become available in the upcoming weeks.
